History
Network Systems (NS) was awarded the Air Defense Communications
Service (ADCS) contract for the U.S. Air Force in support of
NORADs Air Defense and Drug Interdiction mission. The award for
$37.5M was announced on July 12, 2001. The contract term is for
one year with four additional option years.
NS has managed, maintained and engineered this system for the
U.S. Air Force since 1983. NS (formerly GTE GSC) designed this
communication system in 1983 and over the past 18 years, the
ADCS team has completed countless system upgrades and modifications
employing state-of -the-art technology. Significant system
upgrades are expected over the life of the ADCS contract.
This significant win for NS is a clear result of dedication
to customer service and consistent high performance in the
operations,
maintenance and engineering of telecommunications systems.
Subsequent to the events of 9/11/01, the ADCS contract was
increased to $73.5M to provide additional support for homeland
defense
initiatives.
